The 'O' weekend

I had a BIg O and a small O weekend.

Sawed OMKARA - and hehe wented with the Os for the movie, so three three Os on weekend.
I thought the movie was fantastic. Was getting slightly fed-up of all the hype, the ads explaining Dolly the innocent, Keshu the loyal, blah blah and all the interviews about how hard the landuage was, till I actually sat down and watched this movie.

So, the story is Othello - and it plays out very true to the original script. Husband of course had a dozen Qs, considering that this was complusory reading for him in school it was pretty much in one ear, out the other back then. of course love Will's tragedies, not the landuage of his plays so much but the character sketches are always brilliant.
Missed the first five minutes, but got into seat just in time, to see Omkara's entrance. Ohmygod - Ajay devgan is the MOOR.
The goss is that many theater actors were a bit leery of Vishal Bharadwaj's star casting, for a Shakespeare based story. But it works, it really really does. It's all in the casting I think. Saif was truely awesome as Langa Tyagi/ Iago. And Vivek Oberoi thankfully w/o those stupid blond highlights is pretty decent as well, as the innocent faithful leuitenant. Konkana was really good, and I think this role was extended, because I dont really remeber much of the hand-maiden's bit in the original.
More to recommend and praise - the gorgeous camera-work, sexy Bips, and the amazing continuity and details. There is this shot of Dolly's hands, and the right hand is beautifully manicured and the left one is short and chewed nails. It's amazing, that is exactly how all those hostelite girls from UP maintained their hands when I was in college.
OOOOOOOO, this movie so reinforces my faith in hindi movies - and yippee for good work outside the bloody yash-raj camp and SRK/Preity retarded dimples.
Want to see again to understand blloody UPanvi language.

Small O - origami - the new japanese restaurant.
In the chaotic and very obviously illegal Atria Mall in worli. Wented to get lingerie on the cheep at grand sale at La Senza and trapped husband into some sushi indulgence. Was okayish - but proved a nice change to the snobby wasabi atmoshpere. had maki rolls mostly - limited choice, salmon, spicy tuna, prawn tempura and california (Which is crab-meat & avacado together)... really missed soft-shell crab and yellow-fin and fatty tuna, but made do. Husband indulged in a couple of peices of nigiri which was f*** expensive, but were supposedly very good - i think - he got his ummm, uknowwhat face. and then we had flied lice. (to say flied lice with eyes as tiny slits plis). with yummy beef bits.

I know, i think i'm a lapsed vegeterian.... just so sick of beancurd.
